Hello! I am currently in my 7th year here at Lucy Laney. Prior to teaching here, I taught 4th grade math for Hiawatha Academies in South Minneapolis. Before relocating to the midwest, I worked for Boston Public Schools; teaching 4th and 5th grade--for 5 years.
I have been married for 6 years. My wife and I have two daughters: Cora(4), Alaina(2). Cora will be joining the Laney Family in High 5 this year!
Standards:
4th grade is an extremely important year of growth for our mathematicians. 4th grade standards include mastering our multiplication and division facts, as well as learning strategies for multiplying and dividing larger numbers. We spend a lot of time working with algebra, especially balancing equations. We will also discover strategies for finding area, surface area and volume. We will also work a lot with fractions and decimals this year.
Please practice basic facts in all operations(addition, subtraction, multiplication, division) with your student. Students can make flashcards, or they can be purchased at the dollar store.
Please feel free to reach out at any time with questions, or concerns.
