My name is Hannah Dunbar and I am so excited to be part of the third grade team again for the 2019-2020 school year. More importantly, I am thrilled to be your teacher! This is my fourth year teaching at Lucy Craft Laney and it is going to be a FUNfilled

year of new learning, new challenges and new adventures. My dream for every school year is to kindle a fire- to spark a love of learning, a desire to investigate and question, to build critical thinkers. Ultimately, I desire to support my students as they discover new strengths and skills each year. So, please partner with me as we grow together this year.

But first, let me share a little about myself. I was born in Liberia, West Africa (a place which holds the sweetest of memories for me). My family emigrated from Liberia to Minnesota when I was 8, so I consider myself African-born but Minnesota-raised. I am the ninth of thirteen children. I have four (was six)

fantastic brothers and six beautiful sisters - my best friends. My African heritage is one piece of my identity of which I am most proud, and I love sharing my culture with students. So be prepared to hear lots and lots of questions about all things Africa. My hobbies include writing short stories and poetry and painting African art whenever I get a free moment.

I am sometimes a teacher Always a Student

I am a graduate of nearby Robbinsdale Cooper High School. I went on to earn my Bachelor of Science in international business from St. Cloud State University. After working for five years in the business world, I wanted a change and felt

called into education. I became a special education assistant at Lucy Craft Laney for four years where I rediscovered my love of education. I returned to school, this time, to the University of Minnesota to get my K-6 teaching license.

Again, I feel so blessed to be part of this exciting upcoming school year and look forward to partnering with you and your student in their 2019 and 2020 academic journey.
